Installing the Visual Basic Upgrade Companion License file

VBUC 4.0 has a new License registration process. In this guide you will find the step-by-step instructions to register a new ArtinSoft’s Visual Basic Upgrade Companion License file for your VBUC installation:

The VBUC License registration wizard will start automatically the first time you run the VBUC on your system. At any time, you can also start the License registration wizard manually by doing one of the following steps:

  • Click on the “License Status” section on the VBUC. This is located on the bottom right hand-side corner of the VBUC interfaz as shown below:

  • Click on the VBUC Help Menu and then “VBUC registration”
  • The VBUC License Wizard Welcome screen will appear. Click Next

  • The following screen is the License Registration screen:

  • On the License Registration screen you have 2 options:

    • Option 1 - Register a valid ArtinSoft Visual Basic Upgrade Companion License file (VBUC.lic): If you choose this option, you need to specify the location of a valid VBUC License file. Please click on browse and look for the VBUC.lic file that you get from ArtinSoft.

      Once you click Next, if the VBUC license file is valid, the following screen will appear:

    • Option 2 - Skip License Registration: If you skip the License Registration Wizard the VBUC will allow the creation of a migration solution, edit migration profiles, solve migration warnings and run code analysis but the VBUC will not allow the migration of your Visual Basic 6.0 code.

      Once you click on Next the following screen will appear:

  • Click Finish to complete the VBUC License registration wizard.
